$18 Million Investment to Build 56 New Homes in Saint John

The federal government has announced more than $18 million to build 56 new homes in Saint John as part of its Affordable Housing Fund.
The project, known as the Steepleview Development, will be built at 35 Cliff Street. Half of the units will be designated as affordable housing for seniors, women and children, and Indigenous residents.

Funding comes from multiple partners, including:
$18.1 million from the federal Affordable Housing Fund
$2.26 million plus rent supplements from the Province of New Brunswick
$260,000 from the City of Saint John
$840,000 in land equity from the Diocese of Saint John
$250,000 from the Knights of Columbus – Council 937

Officials including Minister Dominic LeBlanc, MP Wayne Long, and Provincial Housing Minister David Hickey took part in the announcement, calling the development an important step toward addressing the region’s housing shortage.
Mayor Donna Noade Reardon said the city will continue working with all levels of government and community partners to ensure Saint John remains a place where everyone can find a safe, affordable home.
