Kayaking with First Nations Storytellers

June 18, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Come out June 18 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Dominion Park Beach in Saint John for a guided kayaking tour.

For thousands of years prior to the establishment of Saint John as Canada’s oldest incorporated city, a flourishing Nation, the Wolastoqiyik called the area home. On this 2-3 hour guided kayak tour, learn about how they lived along the “beautiful river” in balance with nature and how it was integral to their movement around the region and province.

Minimum of 6 guests neccesary for this tour to run.

Meet at the beach pre sunset, taking some time to get everyone fitted with your gear before your guide goes over safety procedures and basic paddling instruction.

Depending on the tour date, there are three different start points for this tour, highlighting different locations important to our local first nation cultures.

Stop along the way at a beach for a small bon fire and to enjoying traditional Bannock as well as a locally sourced smoked sturgeon platter. For evening tours, the return paddle could be in low light conditions, giving you a chance to enjoy the serenity of paddling under starlight (feel free to bring along a headlamp if you have one).
