A two-storey garage on Meenans Cove Road in Quispamsis was completely destroyed by fire on Dec. 11, though nearby homes were largely spared. The Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department received the call just before 10 a.m. and arrived to find the garage fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters immediately focused on preventing the fire from spreading to the adjacent house, successfully limiting damage to its exterior. Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries were reported. Unfortunately, one vehicle inside the garage was also destroyed.
Multiple fire departments—including Hampton, Nauwigewauk, Long Reach, and Peninsula—assisted by providing tanker trucks to help battle the fire. The coordinated response allowed crews to contain the fire before it could cause further destruction.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are reminding residents to ensure smoke alarms are working and to follow fire safety precautions, especially during the winter months when heating equipment and holiday decorations can increase risks.
The Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department shared updates and photos on social media, highlighting the teamwork between neighboring departments that helped protect the community and minimize damage.
